2 POINTS SNATCHED AWAY IN 97TH MINUTE.

On a beautiful spring afternoon in the sun at The Verdant Stadium in Biggleswade, we can feel bitterly disappointed at only coming away with 1 point.

The team sheet had plenty of interest with the first start in a while for top goal scorer Dylan Whitlock, and a very welcome return for Frankie on the bench after a long injury break. We also had loanee Sam Galatis in goal as both Josh and Freddie remain sidelined with injuries. Sam is on loan from Potton United and put in a fine debut.

Tring started the game strongly, dominating the early minutes and creating a few heading opportunities. Biggleswade grew into the game and it was a very even first half. In the 29th minute Biggleswade took the lead after a diagonal cross into our box was not cleared and the ball was squared to Liam Smythe to tuck home, 1 - 0.

Tring also started the second half strongly and were rewarded with 2 goals inside the first 20 minutes, both from Dylan Whitelock. The first a looping header from Max’s cross, and Max turned provider again 10 minutes later with a teasing cross which Dylan tapped in just inside the 6 yard area.

Shortly after that the match turned when Max was shown a 2nd yellow and resulting red card for what the ref believed was a simulated foul. It felt harsh as there looked to be contact and Max had beaten his marker. Nevertheless we played on with 10 men and credit to the lads for restricting Biggleswade to very few chances.

However, the sucker punch came in the 7th minute of added time when Biggleswade were awarded a dubious free kick on the edge of our box, which was floated to the back post and headed in. Jubilant Biggleswade scenes followed as did the final whistle.

Final score 2 - 2.

The fact that we left bitterly disappointed is credit to a fine performance from Tring, particularly in the 2nd half, against a team who have lost only 3 league games all season.
