Our second visit to Aylesbury Vale Dynamos in as many weeks saw the team leave with another win and 3 valuable points.
The game started in a cagey fashion with both teams feeing their way into the game, and there were few chances of any significance in the first 15 mins or so. On 19mins Max found his way to the by-line and put in a low cross that Dylan was just unable to get on the end off and the ball was scrambled away. On 23mins we came even closer when Pablo was found in space in the box by a clever pass from Sheps, but his low shot went just wide.
It was beginning to look like the start of a frustrating night, with Aylesbury working incredibly hard with their pressing and doing well to break our rhythm. They were also creating a few of their own opportunities, forcing a number of corners and kicks, but little from open play.
The breakthrough came on 33mins when the classy Dylan rose to meet a wide free kick from Max to skilfully glance a header across the goal and into the net. Next followed Dylan’s trademark backflip celebration – we’re getting used to seeing that and long may it continue.
The first half concluded without further significant chances and ended 0-1 to Tring – which was probably a fair reflection.
The second half started much the same as the first had, with Aylesbury again working very hard to deny the lads space to play. However, on 55mins the much need second goal came with Sheps putting a low ball across the face of goal after a bursting run to the by-line. Dylan showed his strikers instinct of being in the right place at the right time to tap home. A simple finish, but the real skill was the run to get on the end of it.
The second goal settled the lads and they began to really control the game with long passages of possession, denying Aylesbury and real chances to threaten our lead.
The game started to draw to a close with the lads comfortably in control, with great chances falling to Jones on 80mins when a lob hit the post and on 90mins when he had a low shot well saved. At the final whistle the score was 2-0 to Tring.
In summarising, we must give credit to a very young Aylesbury side who worked incredibly hard and gave a good account of themselves for sure.
This was an important result and 3 points – and just and importantly, a clean sheet. It was a disciplined performance and we controlled the game without producing our free flowing passing game as often as has been the case in recent games. However, the result speaks volumes and the lads deserve great credit. Onwards.
