Tring Athletic FC 4 - 0 Baldock Town

A good sized crown certainly got a great deal of satisfaction from another sparkling performance that saw the lads run out 4-0 winners against Baldock.

Tring looked threatening from the start with Ben creating his usual chaos down the right channel up front. However, the first goal on 7mins came from a set piece, with Frankie curling a free kick in to the box that found the net. It passed through a number of players trying to get a head on the ball, and it may have got a glance from Jack – but difficult to tell. Either way it gave us the lead.

The first half progressed with both teams trying to create chances, but neither keeper really being put to the test. Just as it looked like the half was done, on 47mins Noah latched on to a loose ball that had been cleared and curled a lovely shot in to the top corner. So 2-0 at half time.

Straight from the kick off for the second half the Baldock goal was under pressure with the young goalkeeper pulling off an impressive save. As the pressure continued to mount Frankie latched on to a poor clearance, dispossessing the defender then driving a shot low in to the corner – making it 3-0 after 57 minutes.

Baldock did steady the ship until 80 mins when Greg Deer popped up in the area to score with a powerful header to make it 4-0. Other chances came and went, and we even had the luxury of a missed penalty from the usually ultra-reliable Carbs.

A word about Baldock who played some good football themselves, and it was interesting to note that their side comprised mainly U16 EJA players. They were certainly a very young side, and deserve great credit to contributing to an enjoyable game of football.

So in summery – another very good performance, and we look to take this form into the last few games – starting with Leverstock Green on Tuesday. On this form we should approach this game with confidence.
