TRING BOW OUT OF THE HERTS SENIOR CUP AT STEP 3 BISHOPS STORTFORD

We came into this match having seen off step 4 Hertford Town in the previous round and having never played Bishops Stortford before.
Ultimately, the difference between the 2 steps was too great, and the hosts certainly didn't treat the match lightly fielding 7 of their starting line up from their Southern League Premier Division Central match last Saturday.

Bishops Stortford took control from the off, moving the ball around in our half comfortably, and finding space to play. Two early goals gave them a comfortable position at half time.

In the second half we had more of the ball and were able to put together some decent passages of play and create one or two chances. Tring responded well to going 3 goals down early in the 2nd half with some confident passing of the ball and Dylan W went close with a shot which the goalkeeper smothered away behind. From the resultant corner Liam had a firm header blocked close to goal.

Bishops Stortford furthered their superiority with a goal direct from a corner, evading everyone in the penalty area and sneaking in at the back.
They also had some youngsters on the bench form their academy who got some game time.

Despite the score line, it was a enjoyable and valuable opportunity on and off the pitch to experience a step 3 football environment and match day. Our hosts were very professional and hospitable and they move on to play Hadley in the quarter final.

Another plus was the first start from Doc who played an hour, a return from long term injury for Luke who got 20 minutes and another appearance for U18s player Jamie.
